The Angelic Heirarchy
Angels of Ashes and Ivory features a unique heavenly structure.
Third Order Angels:
- Angels: once mortal-born humans, invited to train in Terra. Interact with select humans, and act as their spiritual guide. Interface as a representative of the spiritual realm. Sometimes called upon to fight lower demons in battle.
- Archangels: once mortal-born humans, invited to train in Terra and promoted through their deeds. Physically fight lower demons, and lead angels in battles. Usually fight, in purpose, against a specific higher demon and his/her minions, under the leadership of a Power.
- Principalities: give direction to Archangels and angels, oversee the Angel Institutes on Terra, occasionally pass messages from Dominions to Archangels and angels.
Second Order Angels:
- Powers: warrior angels; fight demons, train Archangels, are leaders in major battles, rescue missions for worthy souls, and are a resource in other physical tasks.
- Virtues: power of natural elements, inspire humans, can perform “miracles” or magic in the mortal realm related to nature. Are forbidden from harming humans.
- Dominions: management, regulation, leadership, act as a go-between for the celestials and the other second order angels; they pass along messages to the Principalities.
First Order Celestials:
- Cherubim: warriors, cleans worlds. Exact justice to evil.
- Seraphim: love, peace. Exact justice to the good. Often balance Cherubim.
- Thrones: pronounce final judgment, usually on worlds or larger groups of people.
The Three Realms
Telos: The mortal realm, there are many telos worlds. Mortals are born here, and all angels are able to visit. Many third order angels reside in telos worlds to help, guard, and guide humans.
Terra: The terrestrial realm, where the second and third order angels dwell. Celestials can visit this realm. This is also where humans, who are invited to train, can become angels.
Celos: The celestial realm, where the first order angels dwell. No humans, demons, or lower-order angels can enter this realm.
